Appears that some tweeple who registered have not received the confirmation email sent out yesterday. Just to confirm, we will not turn back anyone as long as the arrangements and venue size permits, so please do walk in. All you will need is your Twitter ID J So, come on, the more the merrier. We start at sharp 7 pm, so come on time!!

Dubai Twestival encourages meeting and networking of tweeple in the real world. It’s a free and open event, there is no compulsion or requirement to donate for the cause. However, Twestival Global 2010 is supporting Concern (www.concern.net) and its noble activities worldwide. You can show your support for Concern by donating directly via this website. You can donate anytime during the next 48 hours, but please note that no cash or cheque donations can be accepted at the Dubai Twestival event. Lets meet and galvanize cyberspace with tweets!!

InterCon DFC (@InterConDFC), our very gracious hosts, will serve selected complimentary welcome drinks and canapés to tweeple attending the event today. Only after 8.30 pm InterCon DFC will provide a paid alcoholic bar service, to be available to those interested.

So, just one day before the great evening with the tweeps of Dubai. Here is a peep into what is coming along :

Registrations are coming in, already greater than the attendance for the last Twestival, very heartening. Anyone who has not registered, come on, do it now, quick!! Registration gives us and our hosts an idea of what to plan and look forward to and helps us give you a better event. We do not plan to refuse/eject anyone, as long as the venue and arrangements permit. Just to confirm, there is no entry fee. So if you haven’t, do it now HERE.

Due to the volume of the cars expected, Complimentary Self Parking has been provided by InterCon DFC. Please park your cars using the entrance at the round about, as you approach the hotel.

Dubai Twestival is telecasting video live on the Internet, courtesy of @UStream – watch it here : http://www.ustream.tv/channel/dubaitwestival. WiFi Internet is available (how could it not be ;-)), courtesy of du. We will be able to provide login and passwords to those tweeps who may want to tweet live, upload pictures or videos from the venue, so please ask for it.

Also, we have special prizes and giveaways for tweeps who will support the cause, so if you have indeed taken a minute to click on the button on your right to support Concern (www.concern.net) via Paypal or through a Credit Card, bring your receipt along :-)

Remember, there are 175+ cities participating and we are being judged on how supportive we are to the cause. So, if you believe you want to help, please spare a minute - every penny counts. So, PLEASE HELP CONCERN, after all its an event to support a cause and show that Dubai does care.

du has also arranged for upload stations, which are live on the net, to allow us to upload pictures and videos from the venue. Please remember the hashtag for Dubai Twestival is #DubaiTwestival : remember to use it while tweeting or tagging any content. There will be screens showing live updates at the venue.

Expect a lot of surprises and giveaways!! There will be some impromptu performances, geeky gadgets to play with and, of course, meet as many new tweeps as you can – network, follow and be followed!!

While everyone is welcome, it also puts a lot of responsibility on our shoulders. We expect your support to keep it an interesting, fun and respectable event and request that all effort is made to keep any behaviour contrary to the spirit and ethos, out of the event. Coverage, pictures, videos are encouraged, but remember that they are for non commercial purposes only. Please refrain from unauthorized and blatant commercial or marketing activity or brash, rude or unacceptable behaviour of any kind at the event. The organizers reserve the right of entry to and interaction at the event and will enforce it, if so required.

Last, but not the least, please remember this is an event to bring us together to support a noble cause and to allow us to interact and meet people - and, this is done entirely by tireless volunteers (simple tweeps like you and me) who have worked long hours and weeks to bring this together. So, if you see something that can be done or done better, pitch in and help us and if you are happy, do share it with us and make our day too :-) A simple smile and thank you is more than enough.

Wonderful Evening to look forward to..

Twestival Dubai will be an evening to remember for all the Dubai Tweeple who are gearing up to Tweet/Meet/Give on March 25. And, one of the major reasons for this guarantee is the stupendous, wonderful, breathtaking and exceptional location we have. Well, yes, we are going overboard since we saw the skyline of Dubai from the Skyyline Lounge at the InterCon in Dubai Festival City - see for yourself….

.
Thanks to the fabulous folks at InterCon DFC (@InterConDFC), we have access to the hospitality of one of the most hep places in Dubai to have a great event at. Thank you very much you great people - who, by the way, responded to us on a single tweet and here we are looking forward to a great event.

Rob Singleton of InterCon DFC, says:
InterContinental Dubai Festival City is proud to be a part of Dubai
Twestival 2010 by providing the hospitality of the SKYYline lounge as
the host venue for the event.

Social networking has provided brands and businesses with an exciting
new platform to engage with their customers. Over the past twelve
months, InterContinental Dubai Festival City has done just that in an
attempt to build an online community for its ‘followers’. This community
of over 6,000 followers evolved from of an open dialogue with the hotel
and its outlets, as well as through exciting competitions and giveaways.
Social media is however about the community, and InterContinental Dubai
Festival City recognizes that to interact with the community, the hotel
should also be a part of it.

Dubai Twestival is therefore an excellent example of how social networks
empower the community to give back to the community, and how through the
use of web portals such as Twitter, companies may demonstrate
responsible business for the twenty first century.

InterContinental Dubai Festival City wishes all Tweeple attending the
Dubai Twestival a fun filled evening, and happy Tweeting!

Twestival is now round the corner and things are cooking well. The big smile on our face is because we have some really good news to share. du, the local, ‘enlightened’ telecom operator has become the Prime Sponsor of Dubai Twestival.

We are overjoyed and so will be the people whose lives this support will enrich, very soon. du has provided a cash contribution (how much?, we will announce it at Twestival) that will go directly to Concern, on behalf of us all Dubai Tweeple. So come prepared with a lot of things to share – your goodwill, pictures, videos and tweets –  WiFi and upload stations will help us see our own contributions in real time. Of course, you can help in your own way by clicking on the donate link here on the right – directly through PayPal or through a credit card. Remember, your contribution will enlighten lives and educate communities – and, best of all, it goes directly to Concern, 100% - the event and fun comes free!

See you at Twestival Dubai…. Please register, its free and only takes a minute.
