Getting the party started

Right then, Tweeple, Twitteratis and Twitterinos, I’m sure you all must’ve heard of the Global Twestival taking place on 12 February 2009. Naturally, Dubai can’t be abandon the thought of not participating and it’s extremely fortuitous that this day falls on a Thursday. Er, not that we abstain from partying on week nights!

A few enterprising tweeps have taken the mantle of organising Dubai Twestival 2009. We’re still working out a few details, including the venue, but would love for you to confirm your attendance.

Alas, and as much as we’d like to, unlike the other global twestivals, we are unable to contribute to Charity Water. Partly owing to a time-crunch, there are also various legal issues that restrict charity-based events in Dubai limited only to certain licensed organizations. Just think of this as a colossal tweetup to celebrate the twestival spirit and the awesomeness of the platform that has made all this possible.  We hope that this start snowballs into something more enormous for all you tweeps.

If you’ve missed the last tweetup, there couldn’t be a better time to collide into tweeps that you’ve been following as well as meet or reacquaint yourselves with new tweeps. Who knows – some of them might even be in stilts!

To help us get the ball rolling, what you need to do is spread the word with tweeps not in the know. All that’s left then is to don your glad rags, party hats and, well, just show up and let’s have some fun!

Great stuff. I respect your concerns regarding the legal nature of donating towards charities outside the country.
I also love the thought of catching up with all of you, don’t get me wrong, but I feel further motivated by the idea of getting together for a greater cause affecting people that are not as privileged as ourselves.
Is there a chance we can still make contributions as individuals? :)

    See you all soon!
